Who needs animals?

It was a beautiful day today with a high of 92 so we took Luke to the zoo. Really we took him to the splash pad at the zoo. At first he was a little hesitant of what was going on. He turned his back to the whole thing and watched what the other kids were doing over his shoulder.
Then the little green holes in the ground caught his attention. He can't resist poking his finger in to try and figure out what it is.

SURPRISE! That's where the water comes out!

I don't think he understood what just happened..

So he went back to try and figure this crazy thing out.

SURPRISE! Same thing happened!

Then he got wise to this little green hole in the ground.

He observed it from a different angle... pretty ingenious for a 1 year old.

Until he stood up, then it got him again!

After Luke had enough surprises we dried him off and got ready to look at the animals. Luke had other plans. He found a little Weeping Mulberry tree. He spent the next 10 minutes circling the tree and picking up litter from under it.

The zoo got even more exciting when he noticed a bench shaped like a Bighorn Sheep a few feet from the tree.

He was finally talked into walking over to the giraffes. Did Luke enjoy the giraffes? No, he found a box that made noise which was much more interesting.
So we went to the zoo today. We didn't see any animals but we had fun none the less.

If Jack went to the zoo with him he would demand some animal viewing, but might settle for those water spouts! Great pictures - he is so stinking cute it hurts! I wish we lived close so our boys could be bff....i got your ridiculous email and need to email you back. i have no response to the second half...ridiculous!

Our zoo has a splash pad too. I have yet to take Kayla, but I bet she'd love it. Maybe later this summer... :)
